Atlas of Maine
Colby College

The Atlas of Maine is a series of maps developed by students in Introduction to GIS and Remote Sensing, an interdisciplinary course in the Environmental Studies Program at Colby College. The goal of this activity is to develop a series of maps highlighting the unique human and natural resources of Maine.

The Atlas maps (issue/number 1) emphasize "visual" GIS.
Student research projects (issue/number 2) emphasize "analytical" GIS.

Symposium
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
Open to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo Undergraduates.

Symposium: Student Journal of Science and Math

Symposium: Student Journal of Science and Math is the student academic journal of the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Symposium was founded in 2013, and is published annually after the inaugural issue in Spring 2014. The publication was suspended after 2017.

Symposium is a student-written and student-run, open-access academic journal of science and math. The journal’s annual issues will promote discussion on the science topics that the students of the College of Science and Mathematics (COSAM) investigate in their classes, labs, research, and senior projects. Symposium also features students’ unique experiences through Cal Poly’s hands-on motto, “Learn by Doing.” Pieces submitted to Symposium are peer-reviewed by the Review Board, which is comprised of COSAM students.

Undergraduate Journal of Mathematical Modeling: One + Two
University of South Florida

The open access Undergraduate Journal of Mathematical Modeling: One + Two is concerned with various applications of mathematics done by non-mathematics majors. In particular, its purpose is to disseminate selected applied mathematics projects of engineering and science students.

A unique feature of this journal, as shown by its title, is that each student whose work is published has been advised by at least two different people: a subject area advisor (who typically, but not always, suggested the problem) and a mathematics advisor.

In 2017, Undergraduate Journal of Mathematical Modeling: One + Two was awarded the DOAJ Seal for its high degree of openness and for adhering to best practices and high publishing standards.

Intercollegiate Student Chemists Convention (Conferences and Events)
Ursinus College
Open to All Undergraduates

Ursinus College is pleased to host the
80th Annual Intercollegiate Students Chemists (ISC) Convention
on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

THE ISCC'S CORNERSTONE IDEAL IS
THE ABILITY TO CONDUCT, RECOGNIZE, AND REWARD
MEANINGFUL UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH IN THE CHEMICAL SCIENCES

Program Overview: The conference provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to present original chemical research findings. The presentations are 15 minutes total with 12 minutes for a PowerPoint talk and 3 minutes for questions. They are evaluated by a small panel of judges, and awards are presented. A light breakfast, lunch, and a keynote address by Dr. Patrick Holland, Professor of Chemistry at Yale University are included.

History: The ISCC appears to be the oldest, continuously meeting annual convention of its type in the United States.
The inaugural Intercollegiate Student Chemists (ISC) Convention was held on April 18, 1936 under the guidance of Professor William Buel Meldrum of Haverford College. See iscconvention.org for more convention history.

Submit abstracts by Friday, March 18, 2016.
NOTE: Abstract Deadline extended to Friday, April 1, 2016.

Registration Information: All students and faculty attendees should register for the conference at their earliest convenience, but no later than Friday, April 8th.

Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics (Center for Science, Mathematics & Computer Education)
University of Nebraska - Lincoln

The Conference is open to outstanding undergraduate women mathematicians at all stages of their careers. Students will have the opportunity to meet other women who share their interest in the mathematical sciences, and those who have already done research will be given an opportunity to present their results.
Conference participants will also have a chance to learn about life in graduate school from the perspective of current women graduate students representing math departments from across the country.
